Deaner's Tour Diary

Brisbane 2/29/08 show day
Had our day off yesterday, a rare two day break on tour, somehow we needed it. We had a long travel day from wellington and got to the hotel around 5pm. I took up one of the brownie troopers "dan" and his mates on a fishing offer. They picked up glenn and I at the hotel and we fished with prawns off a pier in the wellington river. I caught a massive pike eel that was one of the angriest fish I ever had the displeasure to land. The fuckin' thing was trying to bite my hand off. I've handled a lot of bluefish before and other cranky fish but I've never seen a fish more determined to take one of my fingers off before. I also caught a respectable catfish and the other guys caught some small bream. I also caught a couple weird small pufferfish, pretty bizzare shit. The fishing trip quickly turned into a drinking exhibition once the whiskey came out. It ended up with me smashing my fishing rod into a million pieces and telling racist jokes, pissing off the pier. The rest of it gets pretty grey though. I remember hotel security at my room threatening to call the cops and another poorly judged walk to a local bar that almost ended up in a fistfight. We have a gig tonight and I'm sitting in my room listening to the allman brothers band at top volume, it's 3pm and I just woke up.
